Namesake

I couldn't help but post some amazing photos of Bailey Kay's namesake: Grandma Kay (or Johnson or Kathy). My Aunt Patti helped me find the perfect photo of Grandma Kay for Bailey's room and in the process we got sidetracked by a plethora of other great grandma photos!
Before Justin and I had even settled on the name Bailey, we knew we wanted Kay to be somewhere in the mix. Grandma was the most lovely, lively person I think I was privileged to know. She really embraced the beauty of life and handled the less beautiful aspects of life with grace and healthy doses of humor.

I uploaded a few great ones for you all. First is her high school photo. Next is my favorite, a photo of her painting. Grandma was an artist. She also didn't mind raising a couple eye brows - notice she is in her front yard in a bathing suit. I doubt that was the norm in the 1940s (would you say the photo was taken in the 40s Patti? It looks pre-grandpa and kids). And last, I thought I would add a baby photo for kicks. We can see if Bailey resembles Grandma Kay in her infancy (She is the one of the left, Uncle Kenny, her twin is on the right).

Countdown

We're ready! We think...Justin has only one day left of work and I have only three grueling days left of carrying our big bundle of joy (nothing little about our Bailey). Room completed: check! Pre-op appointment: check! Car seat in car: check! Mom is even on her way.
For those of you who have just logged into TheDaileyBailey, it is only fair to forewarn epic amounts of uncensored, first-time parent gushing. It may be off-putting to anyone other than us and maybe the grandparents. Then again, it could be comical. Regardless, it is more courteous to let you all have control of your time, so we decided to set up this site rather than personally call or email everyone for every proud moment. I also wanted to let family and loved ones know that you may receive a text message from my phone shortly after I am wheeled in for surgery. No, I will not be delivering and dialing, this text will be all Justin. This will be the no-nonsense announcement of Bailey's arrival into the world (weight, length, if she is still rocking a mullet). From that point on, you all can tune into TheDailyBailey, which will be managed by Auntie Teresa or "Tita Terie." She is both a Facebook faithful and photographer extraordinaire, so the job unfortunately fell on her. I trust you will get ample updates as I am recovering in the hospital and at home.
Lastly, we want to thank every one of you for your support and interest in our lives. We are extremely fortunate to be at this place in our lives, and it is all that much more fun to revel in it with you all cheering us on!
P.S. Kristen McCarthy is responsible for this great photo. She took all my 8-month "belly shots" and did a fantastic job getting all of me in the frame! Well done, Kristen.
